Ventura County Law Enforcement Explorer Academy Graduation
Report Number:
Location: Rancho Campana High School, Camarillo
Date & Time: August 2, 2019
Unit(s) Responsible: Ventura County Sheriff’s Office
Narrative:
On Friday, August 2, 2019, 42 Law Enforcement Explorers from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, Simi Valley Police Department, and the Santa Paula Police Department graduated from the Ventura County Law Enforcement Explorer Academy during a ceremony held at Rancho Campana High School in Camarillo.
The graduating Explorers completed three weeks of training that introduced them to many aspects of law enforcement. Through lecture, hands-on activities, physical fitness training, and testing, explorers learned about a variety of law enforcement duties. The Explorers received instruction by subject matter experts on the Criminal Justice System, Conduct and Ethics, First Aid/ CPR, Traffic Enforcement, Air Unit Operations, Bomb Squad, and other public safety functions. Each Explorer also had the opportunity to experience training scenarios that were based on situations commonly faced by law enforcement.
The Explorer Program is an excellent way to introduce young men and women to law enforcement. The program is open to youth who are 14 years old (must have completed middle school) to 21 years of age. If you would like more information about the explorer program, contact your local police or sheriff’s station.
