Briefing is underway for motorcycle officers from Gilroy Police Department, City of Los Altos Police Department, Milpitas Police Department, Morgan Hill Police Department, Santa Clara Police Department, California Highway Patrol, Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety and the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office.
Officers will travel throughout the county each day this week conducting high visibility directed traffic enforcement operations with a focus on distracted driving.
This campaign is in honor of CHP Officer Kirk Griess, who was killed in the line of duty by a distracted driver on 8/10/2018, and the nine lives lost day in the United States as a result of distracted driving. Officer Griess's sister, Kristin, joined the officers this morning for briefing and had a very touching message to share about this initiative.
