Dense Fog Advisory until 09:00AM

...Areas of Dense Fog to Plague Early Morning Travel Once Again... Areas of dense fog have once again developed across much of the forecast area west of the Blue Ridge early this morning. This includes a good portion of the Interstate 81 corridor from Christiansburg to Chilhowie, and from Buchanan to Lexington, portions of the Interstate 77 corridor in southwest Virginia, and a good portion of the New River Valley, Grayson Highlands, Northwest North Carolina mountains, the Greenbrier Valley, and the Southern Shenandoah Valley. Those planning travel early this morning should be prepared to encounter highly variable visibility. Valleys and areas near bodies of water or rivers could be enshrouded in dense fog with visibilities near 0 miles, while other nearby locations may experience little or no fog. Reduce speed, use low beam headlights, and allow extra distance between you and the vehicle in front of you. Use extreme care if traveling along an interstate highway at high speeds passing through areas of highly variable visibility. The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a Dense Fog Advisory, which is in effect until 9 AM EDT this morning.
