Coastal Flood Warning until 01:00AM Saturday
...MAJOR COASTAL FLOODING TONIGHT ALONG THE SOUTHERN SOUTH CAROLINA AND NORTHERN GEORGIA COASTS... .Elevated tides will continue to impact the South Carolina and Georgia coasts into tonight. Tide levels are expected to reach major flooding thresholds during this evening's high tide resulting in significant saltwater inundation in many areas, especially Downtown Charleston. The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a Coastal Flood Warning, which is in effect from 8 PM this evening to 1 AM EDT Saturday.
* LOCATIONS...In South Carolina, Coastal Jasper. In Georgia, Coastal Bryan, Coastal Chatham, Coastal Liberty and Coastal McIntosh.
* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Up to one foot of saltwater inundation above ground level is possible in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways (around 10.0 feet Mean Lower Low Water). Some roads will be flooded, along with some properties. Highway 80 to Tybee Island will be impassable.
* TIMING...High tide will occur around 1009 PM tonight at Fort Pulaski. Saltwater inundation will be possible 2 to 3 hours before and after high tide.
* AFFECTED AREAS: COASTAL LIBERTY ... COASTAL BRYAN ... COASTAL MCINTOSH ... COASTAL JASPER ... COASTAL CHATHAM
