Coastal Flood Watch until 01:00AM Friday

...MODERATE TO MAJOR COASTAL FLOODING WILL IMPACT SOUTH COASTAL SOUTH CAROLINA AND NORTH COASTAL GEORGIA THIS EVENING... .Elevated tides will continue to impact the South Carolina and Georgia coasts into tonight. Tide levels are expected to reach moderate to possibly major flooding thresholds with this evening's high tide. Significant coastal flooding is possible and a Coastal Flood Watch has been issued. The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a Coastal Flood Watch, which is in effect from this evening through late tonight.

* LOCATIONS...In South Carolina, Coastal Jasper. In Georgia, Coastal Bryan, Coastal Chatham, Coastal Liberty and Coastal McIntosh.

* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Up to one foot of saltwater inundation above ground level is possible in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways (9.7 to 10.0 feet Mean Lower Low Water). Saltwater inundation will impact some roads, including Highway 80 to Tybee Island. Motorists should be prepared for a likely closure of Highway 80 this evening.

* TIMING...High tide will occur around 917 PM at Fort Pulaski. Saltwater inundation will be possible 2 to 3 hours before and after high tide.

* AFFECTED AREAS: COASTAL LIBERTY ... COASTAL BRYAN ... COASTAL MCINTOSH ... COASTAL JASPER ... COASTAL CHATHAM

Instructions:

A Coastal Flood Watch means significant coastal flooding is possible. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property before flooding develops. If travel will be required, prepare for closed roads.
