INCIDENT: Assault with a Deadly Weapon
LOCATION: D Street and & 7th Street, Victorville
SUSPECT: Landon Bruce Cripe, 38-year old Victorville resident
VICTIM: San Bernardino County Deputy Sheriff
SUMMARY:
On July 28, 2019, a deputy with the Victorville Police Department conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of D Street and 7Th Street. The driver involved in the stop pulled into a parking lot at the corner of the intersection, where the deputy made contact with them. As the deputy walked from his patrol car, with the emergency red and blue lights activated, towards the other vehicle, he heard squealing tires and observed a black Ford F150 pickup truck driving towards him. The truck was approximately five feet from the deputy when he quickly moved from the path of the truck. The driver continued through the parking lot at a high rate of speed and exited onto 7th Street.
With assistance from other deputies, the truck was located traveling south on 7th Street. The suspect, later identified as Landon Bruce Cripe, stopped the truck in the middle of 7th Street, near Desert Knoll Drive. He was taken into custody and transported to High Desert Detention Center, where a blood alcohol test was conducted. He was booked for felony assault with a deadly weapon. The deputy did not sustain any injuries.
The case has been forwarded to the District Attorney’s office for review and consideration of further charges, pending the results of the blood alcohol test. He is scheduled to appear in Victorville Superior Court on July 31, 2019.
