Advisory

Trees and wires down in numerous areas of Green Bay. Green Bay Police and Green Bay Metro Fire preparing for another wave of storms.

Green Bay was hit with very severe storms both last night and today. There remains a threat of additional severe weather over the next several hours. Green Bay Police and Green Bay Metro Fire Departments are out in full force checking on damage, flooding, downed trees and wires down. Several residents of Green Bay and Brown County are still without power.

The Green Bay Police Department is encouraging all residents to monitor the internet or TV/radio for weather alerts and seek shelter if severe weather approaches.

While we have been notified and checked on numerous downed trees and power lines, please understand that it may take quite some time to get those roads cleared that may be blocked. Please do not go near downed power lines and notify 911 for any wires down, especially if they involve sparking or fire. If you are just without power, but do not see any wires down, please do NOT notify 911 and instead notify your electrical service provider. Check your electrical provider's website to determine if the outage in your area has already been reported and an estimate on power being restored.

If there is a tree down, please do the following ONLY IF SAFE TO DO SO:

1. Check for wires that may have come down with the tree falling. If there are wires down, please call 911 and STAY AWAY FROM THE WIRES.
2. Check to make sure nobody is injured under the tree. This is especially important if the tree fell on a car or house.
3. Notify Green Bay Police Department and Green Bay Metro Fire Department of the downed tree. Please tell the call taker the exact tree's location, whether any wires are down, whether anyone is hurt and if there is partial or complete blockage of the road.
4. Only remove debris from the road if it is safe to do so.

Please do NOT approach flood waters or roads that are covered in water. Depth of the water may not be obvious and cars that enter flooded streets could be swept away by the fast moving waters.

Thank you for your patience and stay safe.
