On Monday, July 22^nd, the City of Oneonta will temporarily close the Market Street entrance to Neahwa Park via James Georgeson Avenue to all vehicular traffic. Detour signage will guide vehicles to the Main Street entrance to Neahwa Park via Neahwa Place. Pedestrians and bicycles may still utilize the Market Street entrance throughout this time period, and are encouraged to do so. The Market Street entrance will be reopened to all traffic on Monday, July 29^th.

The intent of this temporary, experimental road closure is to observe its effects on vehicular traffic entering, exiting, and within Neahwa Park. Following this experiment, the City intends to evaluate the merits of making permanent physical improvements to the Market Street entrance via James Georgeson Avenue, which would not only create an attractive, inviting park entrance, but would also limit access to only pedestrians, bicycles, and emergency vehicles.
