Wilmington Police make arrest minutes after stabbing
Wilmington Police arrested a 58-year-old man and recovered a small folding knife minutes after a stabbing incident.
On July 12 at approximately 1:38 p.m., police on proactive patrol were approached by a man who had sustained a laceration after an incident with another individual. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries from the small laceration.
Additional officers in the area located and apprehended the suspect, 58-year-old Timothy Silvils of Milford, near the scene, and recovered a small folding knife.
Silvils has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Person Prohibited
- Assault (Second Degree)
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $52,000 secured bail pending further proceedings.
Chief Robert J. Tracy applauded the efforts of officers in quickly rendering aid to the victim and relaying details about the suspect to additional officers, who were able to make a prompt arrest.
“Several police officers, who were already on proactive patrol in the area, were able to take swift action to assist the victim and identify the suspect,” said Chief Tracy. “Thanks to their diligence, we were able to quickly arrest the suspect in this case.”
