Air Rescue 306 conducted a hoist rescue for a young man who was injured after jumping from a cliff near Aztec Falls

VICTIM: 19-year-old male
SUMMARY:
On July 18, 2019 at 2:40 p.m., San Bernardino County Fire requested the assistance of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Aviation Unit for a hoist rescue. A reporting party called 9-1-1 to report a drowning.
The crew of Air Rescue 306 flew to the location and observed several subjects pointing to a male subject (victim) on top of a large rock. A San Bernardino County Fire medic was hoisted down to the victim and a rescue harness was placed on the victim to hoist him up to the helicopter. The victim was flown to Loma Linda University Medical Center for treatment.
It was determined the victim jumped off a small size cliff into the water and became unconscious upon impact. Bystanders pulled the victim out of the water and rendered aid until help arrived. The victim was alert and oriented while enroute to the hospital.
