On Thursday, 07/18/2019, Morristown will host the annual Verizon Corporate Classic 5K. This race draws thousands of participants and will have a major impact on the afternoon rush hour commute. The race itself launches at 7:30 pm.

Several roadway closures will be in place early to accommodate the race set-up and execution. Beginning at 5:30 pm Early St. will be closed to vehicle traffic between Atno Ave. and Mills St. This closure will expand to include Early St. from Mills St. to Speedwell Ave. at 6 pm. Mills St. and Sussex Ave. will be closed at approximately 7 pm. Atno Ave. will be closed to traffic at approximately 6 pm. Westbound Washington St. will be unaffected by the event, eastbound traffic on Mendham Rd. will be detoured around Burnham Park and back onto Washington St. Additionally, Speewell Ave. will remain open, and can be used to detour around the race route using Mill Rd. or Hanover Ave. Kahdena Rd., off of Sussex Ave., can also be used to detour around the course on the western edge.

The event will be fully concluded by 9:30 pm. Uniformed police officers and race volunteers will be on hand to assist, and detours around the area will be posted. The attached map contains the full course route for reference. The Morristown Police Department appreciates your cooperation.
