Newark Police Division Announces New Hours of Operation at 22 Franklin Street
Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose announces new hours of operation at the Newark Police Division’s facility located at 22 Franklin Street beginning August 1, 2019.
“Through our operational analysis, we discovered that the bulk of citizen traffic at the facility takes place during the day and drops significantly in the afternoons and at night,” Director Ambrose said. “The addition of our two new police precincts last year offers the public 24-hour access to services citywide. By changing the hours in this facility, we can allocate our personnel resources more efficiently.”
The building, which houses the Auto Squad Unit, will be open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Auto Squad Unit is where the public can request releases for vehicles that have been towed or recovered.
The information desk at 22 Franklin Street will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays. After 4 p.m., the public can utilize a newly installed intercom building access system manned by members of the Auto Squad Unit until 5:30 p.m. New signage reflecting the new hours of operation, pictured below, is also posted at the facility.
Those seeking to file a police report may do so at the nearest police precinct, which can be found at our website: www.newarkpd.org, or by calling the Telephone Reporting Unit at: (973) 733-6000.
Other Police Division units housed at 22 Franklin include: Finance & Grants Division, Licensing Unit, Outside Employment Unit, Medical Services, Transparency & Risk Analysis, Crime Scene Section, Legal Affairs, Advocate & Trials Unit and Candidate Investigations Unit.
