SUSPECT: Shawn Hackworth, 21-years-old man from Fontana

SUMMARY:

On Friday, July 12, 2019, at approximately 5:32 p.m., deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department responded to the 9100 block of Haven Avenue for a report of false imprisonment in progress.

The suspect, identified as Shawn Hackworth, entered the business, asked for some water, exited, then paced back and forth in front of the business. Hackworth reentered the business and told the four female employees to go to the back of the building. One employee ran out the emergency exit and called the police. Hackworth fled the business in the opposite direction. The three remaining employees ran to a closet on the second floor, hid and called 9-1-1. Deputies arrived on scene and cleared the business. The suspect was not located.

On Monday, July 15, 2019, at approximately 6:34 p.m., Hackworth entered a second business in the 8800 block of Haven Ave. The victim was alone in the restroom when Hackworth approached her and began sexually assaulting her. The victim attempted to defend herself, but Hackworth was bigger and stronger. Fearing she was going to be raped, the victim screamed as loud as she could, which caused Hackworth to flee the location.

Through investigation, detectives identified Hackworth as the suspect responsible for committing both crimes. Hackworth was arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center. He is being held for the above charges in lieu of $750,000 bail.

Detectives are releasing Hackworth’s photo in case there are any additional victims who recognize him.
