Arrest of Burglary/ID Theft/Credit Card Theft suspect

In late June, detectives from Santa Rosa Police Department’s Property Crimes Investigations were notified of thefts from local health clubs. Similar thefts were also reported in other jurisdictions within Sonoma County. The details of these thefts, and subsequent fraudulent activity from the victims’ credit cards/debit cards, showed the same pattern of criminal activity.

In these cases, it was reported that the suspect would take purses containing credit cards from lockers in the women’s locker room. The suspect would then go to various locations in Santa Rosa and buy gift cards with the stolen credit cards.

During the investigation, detectives were able to review surveillance footage and immediately recognized the suspect as Kathryn Roman, a 37-year-old Santa Rosa resident. Roman had been arrested by Santa Rosa Property Crimes Detectives in March 2019 for the same types of crimes, has pled guilty to the previous crimes and is currently awaiting sentencing.

On 7/11/19, Roman was re-contacted for the recent thefts and arrested for 459 PC - Burglary, 530.5 PC - Identity Theft, 484 (g) PC - Credit Card Theft, and 488 PC - Theft. Roman has theft related arrests dating back to 2010.

In a subsequent search, Roman was found to be in possession of numerous items belonging to several victims.

During the current cases that she was arrested for, Roman attempted in one instance to alter her appearance by using a wig.
