Advisory

Excessive heat warning through the end of the week. Heavy rains possible later today.

The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning through Sunday. Limit your time outside and especially for children and pets. Check in on special needs and elderly family, friends, and neighbors. Call 211 if you are in need of a cooling center. In addition, heavy rains are possible this afternoon into Thursday that could result in localized flooding.

From the NWS:
Heavy rain may result in flooding and flash flooding this afternoon into Thursday.
The highest threat for flash flooding will be across eastern Pennsylvania, most of
New Jersey, and northern Delmarva.

Dangerously hot conditions are possible starting this afternoon and continuing into
Sunday. The highest heat index values are expected to occur on Saturday.

Heat advisories and excessive heat warnings may need to be expanded and
extended as we go through the week.

Overnight lows in the urban corridor will be in the 70s to around 80. Consequently,
there will be little relief overnight from the dangerously hot conditions

There is a risk of severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening with damaging
winds being the primary threat.

There will be a high risk for dangerous rip currents this afternoon at New Jersey
beaches.
