INCIDENT: PC 496(a) – Possession of Stolen Property / PC 459 – Commercial Burglary
LOCATION: 7900 block of Webster Street, Highland
SUSPECT: Raymond Loftin, a 30year-old resident of Hesperia
SUMMARY:
On Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at about 9:20 a.m., deputies from the Highland Police Station were dispatched to a gas station on the 7900 block of Webster Street in reference to a suspicious male who just cashed over $1000.00 in winning lottery tickets. Prior to arrival, the male subject parked a black GMC Envoy with dealership plates at the gas pumps, covered the vehicle identification number on the dash and entered a different business in the same parking lot.
Deputies detained Raymond Loftin in the bathroom of the business after he discarded lottery tickets in the trash. Loftin had just cashed additional winning tickets at the business, and all the tickets he cashed were confirmed stolen during a commercial burglary at a gas station on the 25000 Block of Alessandro Boulevard in the city of Moreno Valley early this morning. Gloves, a sledgehammer, a surgical mask, and a large number of lottery tickets/cigarettes were found inside the vehicle. Loftin was in possession of a large amount of cash.
Investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department responded to the Highland Police Station and assumed the investigation.
