1 Injured in Crash

Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that on 7/16/2019/ around 1539 hours, his office was called to investigate a injury crash that occurred at the intersection of Gards Prairie Rd. and Quaker St in Penn Township Cass County Michigan. Johannes Erasmus, 26 years old from Schoolcraft, was entering the intersection heading South trying to see around the corn when he was hit by a oncoming vehicle. Kara Gaideski, 24 years old from Dowagiac, was driving West bound when she hit the other vehicle that was in the intersection. Ms. Gaideski and her 2 children, Emery and Lincoln Colestock were transported to Lakeland Hospital in Niles by Life Care Ambulance for minor injuries. Mr. Erasmus and his passenger Mr. Combrinck were treated at the scene by Life Care Ambulance and released. Safety belts and child seats were used and alcohol is not a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation at this time. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Life Care Ambulance and Penn Township fire Department.
