Lt. Chris Taylor of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Marion Gwen McCullers, 28, address listed as Arbutus Drive in Marion, with obstructing justice.
                McCullers and another suspect, 21-year-old Brian Austin Hollifield, address also listed as Arbutus Drive, faced previous charges of assault inflicting serious bodily injury after 23-year-old Kyle Rhodes of Marion was brought to their house, jumped and assaulted early Sunday morning, July 14.     
                As the investigation into the assault progressed Sunday and Monday, investigators learned that  McCullers had burned evidence relating to the crime and provided false statements to law enforcement.
                Additional arrests are pending.
