Excessive Heat Watch until 10:00PM Sunday

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued an Excessive Heat Watch, which is in effect from Wednesday morning through Sunday evening.

* HEAT INDEX VALUES...Heat Index values will range from 100 to 105 on Wednesday and Thursday due to high temperatures in the low to mid 90s and dewpoints in the low to mid 70s. Heat Index values will then range from 105 to as high as 110 Friday through Sunday due to high temperatures will be in the upper 90s, and dewpoints in the mid 70s.

* TIMING...The highest Heat Index values will occur during the day. However, given how hot and oppressive this airmass will be, there will not be much relief at night.

* IMPACTS...The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during outdoor exertion or extended exposure.

* AFFECTED AREAS: DELAWARE ... EASTERN CHESTER ... PHILADELPHIA ... NORTHWESTERN BURLINGTON ... LOWER BUCKS ... MERCER ... CAMDEN ... NEW CASTLE ... GLOUCESTER ... EASTERN MONTGOMERY

An Excessive Heat Watch means that a prolonged period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a DANGEROUS SITUATION in which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
