On July 15, 2019, around 11:05 a.m., Novato Police Officers responded to the area of First St. at Grant Ave. on a report of a robbery. Officers contacted the 45 year old female victim. While she was seated in her vehicle parked behind the businesses, a male adult opened the victim’s unlocked car door and pointed a handgun toward her. The suspect took the victim’s money and credit cards. After the robbery, the suspect got into a dark blue Volkswagen Tiguan which was parked on First St. near Grant Ave. The suspect fled the area in the vehicle. The victim was uninjured.

The suspect (pictured) is described as a black male in his late 20’s or early 30’s, about 5’10” tall with a medium build, wearing a white NIKE sweatshirt with “NIKE” and the NIKE Swoosh symbol in red print on the back. He was also wearing black warmup style pants and white/red athletic shoes. The suspect vehicle (pictured) was described as a dark blue, new model Volkswagen Tiguan, with a roof rack, and no front license plate. The suspect vehicle displayed a temporary paper license plate possibly containing the digits “945.”

NPD officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect or suspect vehicle. Local law Enforcement agencies were advised to “be on the lookout” for the vehicle and suspect.

Novato Police Department Detectives are following up with leads on this case. We are appreciative of the help of several community members who have provided surveillance recordings of the suspect and suspect vehicle. The suspect is believed to have travelled in the areas of Vallejo Avenue, First St, and Grant Ave. We ask for the community’s assistance in providing additional surveillance recordings from this neighborhood during the time of the robbery or additional information regarding the robbery.
