Deputies arrest a Needles man for strong arm robbery after he stole beer and assaulted a store clerk during the crime

INCIDENT: Strong Arm Robbery
LOCATION: 2500 block of West Needles Highway, Needles, CA
SUSPECT: Christopher Hood, 41 year old resident of Needles
SUMMARY:
On July 14, 2019, at 6:20 a.m., deputies from the Needles Police Department/Colorado River Station responded to the 2500 block of West Needles Highway following a report of a strong arm robbery at a convenience store/gas station.
When deputies arrived, they determined the suspect, identified as Christopher Hood, came to the location, selected a 12 pack of beer from the shelves, assaulted a clerk and left the location without paying for the merchandise. It was determined Hood left in a green colored vehicle.
Deputies located Hood's vehicle at the 1700 block of West Needles Highway. Hood was contacted at the location, and subsequently placed under arrest for California Penal Code section 211, Robbery. He was booked into the Colorado River Jail, pending a court hearing on $100,000.00 bail. The stolen merchandise was recovered and returned to the victim.
