Employee Struck by Work Vehicle
Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating a crash during which the driver of a vehicle struck an employee at a fencing company yard in Ridge.
Efran Veliz-Alverado was in a work vehicle at RFC Residential Fences Corp., located at 1775 Middle Country Road, and began backing the vehicle into a parking spot when Mark Craparo walked into the yard and was struck by the truck at 10:45 a.m.
Craparo, 47, of 60 Prospect St., Babylon, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital by Suffolk County Police helicopter in critical condition. Veliz-Alverado, 36, of 42 Seymour Lane, Medford, was not injured.
Motor Carrier Safety Section responded to the scene for a safety check of the vehicle, a Ford F-550. OSHA was notified. Seventh Squad detectives are continuing the investigation.
