This morning's Taylor's Mobile Home Park burglary/domestic violence subject, Robert Washington Jr., was apprehended.
This morning, a woman reported that her ex-boyfriend, 34-year-old Robert Washington Jr. of Seabrook, broke into her residence at Taylor's Mobile Home Park in Burton. After Washington Jr. broke in, he assaulted the woman and stole her cell phone. Washington Jr. then fled the residence on foot. With the assistance of police officers from the Town of Port Royal, the City of Beaufort and the South Carolina Highway Patrol (troopers), Sheriff's Office deputies established a perimeter for a K-9 track.
Just prior to the K-9 units starting the track, Washington Jr. was observed by a deputy on the perimeter and was apprehended after a short foot chase. Washington Jr. was charged with Fleeing to Evade Arrest and for two active arrest warrants that stemmed from an unrelated incident. Additional charges from this morning's incident are under review at this time.
The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office would like to thank the law enforcement officers from the Town of Port Royal, the City of Beaufort and the South Carolina Highway Patrol for their assistance today.
We appreciate your partnership and continued commitment to the safety of our community.
