Graduation Ceremony Held for New Members of the Newark Fire Division
Mayor Ras J. Baraka, Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose and Fire Chief Rufus L. Jackson hosted a graduation for 11 new Newark firefighters during a public ceremony yesterday at Saint John's Unified Free Will Baptist Church in Newark.
The class includes one female firefighter, who becomes the 8th female firefighter in the Newark Fire Division.
The new firefighters are: Dylan H. Alves, David M. Couto, Michael A. Johnson, Adam J. Klapko, Michael Laspisa, David M. Lopez, Jorge B. Marques, Angel A. Rosario, Jr., Qadir Shabazz, Diana A. Torres and Erick Torres.
We congratulate each member of this new class of Newark Firefighters and welcome all into service.
The Newark Fire Division currently operates 16 Fire Stations, including 16 Engine Companies, 8 Ladder Companies, 1 Rescue Company and 1 Urban Search and Rescue team.
