Heat Advisory until 08:00PM Thursday

...Dangerous Heat Will Affect the Mid-South Through Thursday... The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued a Heat Advisory, which is in effect from 10 AM to 8 PM CDT Thursday. A Heat Advisory is also in effect though 8 PM this evening.

* HEAT INDEX VALUES...105 to 109 degrees.

* TIMING...through 8 PM CDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...The heat and humidity will result in an increased risk for heat-related illnesses. The very young, the elderly, those without air conditioning, and those participating in strenuous outdoor activities will be the most susceptible. Also, car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

* AFFECTED AREAS: QUITMAN ... TIPPAH ... PRENTISS ... DESOTO ... YALOBUSHA ... CHICKASAW ... HARDIN ... LAFAYETTE ... PONTOTOC ... TALLAHATCHIE ... LEE ... SHELBY ... TUNICA ... BENTON ...
