On Friday, June 28, 2019, at about 8:45 PM, a Hispanic male juvenile was shot once in the left calf while standing in front of the Regal Escondido Stadium 16 theater at 350 W. Valley Pkwy. in Escondido. The suspects included three Hispanic males who fled the scene in a purple Scion Xb.
On Friday, July 5, 2019, at about 5:45 PM, detectives assigned to the Special Investigations Division located and arrested a 20-year-old Escondido resident in connection with this shooting. The arrest was followed by the execution of a search warrant at the suspect’s residence. The suspect (whose name is being withheld to protect the integrity of the investigation while additional witnesses are located) remains in custody in lieu of $1.2 million bail.
The case remains under investigation and detectives are interested in speaking with several witnesses who were in front of the theater during the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Lee Stewart of the Escondido Police Department’s Gang Unit at 760-839-4422.
