Advisory

HEAT ADVISORY FOR VERMILION COUNTY FROM 11AM TILL 7PM TODAY.

HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM THIS MORNING TO 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a Heat
Advisory, which is in effect from 11 AM this morning to 7 PM CDT
this evening.

* TEMPERATURE...Highs in the lower 90s this afternoon with
tropical dewpoints in the 70s will give heat indices peaking
from 100 to 108 degrees across central and southeast Illinois.

* IMPACTS...The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during
outdoor exertion or extended exposure. The very young, the
elderly, those without air conditioning, and those participating
in strenuous outdoor activities will be the most susceptible.
Also, car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of
minutes. Never leave pets, children or the elderly unattended
in parked vehicles.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Heat Advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible.
