In late June 2019, a deputy from the Wasco City Substation initiated an investigation into the sales of methamphetamine. The deputy identified the suspect involved as 34-year-old Gina Velasquez of Wasco. The deputy developed probable cause and obtained a search warrant for Velasquez, her vehicle, and her residence.
On Monday July 8, 2019, at approximately 10:00 pm, deputies located Velasquez driving in the area of Jackson Avenue and Highway 43 and conducted a traffic enforcement stop. Deputies searched Velasquez’ vehicle pursuant to the search warrant and located approximately 1.3 grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Deputies arrested Velasquez and transported her to her residence in the 1000 block of Cypress Avenue in Wasco to continue executing the search warrant. Deputies detained a second subject at the residence who was identified as 40-year-old Kenny Porter of Wasco.
Deputies searched the residence and located 17 firearms, a large quantity of ammunition, approximately 4 grams of methamphetamine, approximately 10 pounds of marijuana, 74 prescription pills, butane honey oil and equipment to manufacture it, and evidence of narcotics sales.
Deputies charged Velasquez with possessing methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, and maintaining a residence for the purposes of drug sales. Deputies arrested Porter and charged him with possessing methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, maintaining a residence for the purposes of drug sales, marijuana sales, and manufacturing a controlled substance.
