Police identify man killed in Route 130 crash
The South Brunswick Police and the Middlesex County Medical Examiners Office are awaiting test results to determine if the driver who was killed in the June 25th crash on Route 130 suffered a medical episode prior to the collision. South Brunswick Police were called at 8:45am to Route 130 near Fresh Ponds Road for a two car crash. A preliminary investigation by Officers with South Brunswick Police Department Traffic Safety Bureau determined that a 2011 Hyundai Elantra, driven by Wei Guan age 60 of Edison, NJ, was traveling south on Route 130 when it crossed the center median and struck a 2012 Chevy van, driven by Victor Alfonso Soria Alverez age 32 of Annapolis, MD, as it was traveling on Route 130 north.
Guan was pronounced deceased at the scene and was the sole occupant of his vehicle. Soria Alverez and two additional occupants from his vehicle were to taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and treated for minor injuries.
Traffic was impacted as Officers were on scene for over five hours investigating the crash. Soria Alverez was issued summonses for operating a commercial vehicle without a commercial drivers license, unlicensed bus driver, and touring privileges of nonresident drivers.
The investigation is ongoing at this time. Investigators have spoken to some witnesses and are asking anyone with information to contact South Brunswick Police Traffic Safety Officer Jesse Blake at (732) 329-4000 ext. 7474.
