Earlier this evening, Sheriff's Office deputies attempted a traffic stop on a silver Honda on Parris Island Gateway in Burton. Instead of stopping, the male driver sped up in an attempt to elude deputies. The driver continued onto Goethe Hill Road, where he stopped the Honda near a wooded area and fled on foot.

K-9 units responded and tracked the subject to the area of Old Jericho Road. As of this time, the subject has not been located. The subject is described as an African-American male, 5'10" to 6'0" tall, approximately 200 pounds with short gray hair. He was wearing black shorts with a red stripe and no shirt.

Residents in the Old Jericho Road area can expect an increased law enforcement presence, while deputies and K-9 units search for the subject. A records check on the Honda confirmed that it had been reported stolen out of Ridgeland.
