Advisory

Fireworks Alert!

Today is finally the 4th of July. If you are going to purchase fireworks, remember to only purchase "Safe and Sane" fireworks from an authorized firework stand.

Use of “Safe and Sane” fireworks are allowed within the City of Monterey Park; however, discharge of “Safe and Sane” fireworks are limited only to the 4th of July from 10:00 AM until 10:00 PM. Please make sure that children are supervised at all times when using "Safe and Sane" fireworks.

The City of Monterey Park will be having a 4th of July Fireworks Celebration at Barnes Park (440 S. McPherrin Ave) tonight at 9 p.m. The streets surrounding Barnes Park (McPherrin Ave, Harding Ave, and Ramona Ave) will be closed from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. to allow spectators to view the show. “Safe and Sane” fireworks are not allowed in any of the City parks.

Use of illegal fireworks or modified “Safe and Sane” fireworks are prohibited. Failure to comply may result in a citation and a fine of $2,000.00 to $5,000.00 per occurrence (M.P.M.C. 5.48)

In general, if a firework explodes, flies, darts, or travels, they are illegal in California. If the fireworks that you possess do not have the State Fire Marshal seal on them, then they are illegal. Due to the extreme fire danger in California, the City of Monterey Park Police and Fire Departments are requesting that you use “Safe and Sane” fireworks in a responsible manner.

To report illegal fireworks being sold or discharged within the City, call the Monterey Park Police Department at 626-573-1311

The City of Monterey Park wishes everyone to have a safe and fun 4th of July holiday.
