Wilmington Police arrest man following drug investigation
Wilmington Police have arrested and charged a 32-year-old man after a drug investigation.
On June 28 at approximately 10:30 p.m., members of the Safe Streets Task Force were on patrol in the 900 block of West 4th Street when they observed a vehicle with an equipment violation. Officers conducted a traffic stop, and upon approaching the vehicle, they observed holes in the floorboard, a missing front passenger seat and missing door panels and handles. Police also observed a fixed-blade knife near the driver’s seat.
The driver of the vehicle, 32-year-old Richard Chandler, was removed from the car after initially refusing to exit. Further investigation led to the discovery of 56 ecstasy pills as well as an additional knife.
Chandler has been charged with the following offenses, in addition to vehicle equipment violations:
- Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Resisting Arrest
- Driving While Suspended or Revoked
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $22,500 unsecured bail.
