Osceola County / Monthly Nixle Test & Community Information

MONTHLY NIXLE TEST

This bulletin serves as the monthly test of Nixle, the primary method that Osceola County emergency officials utilize to alert and inform the public of emergencies and community events.  In addition to local emergencies/events, Nixle also automatically re-broadcasts weather advisories, watches, and warnings issued for Osceola County by the National Weather Service.

If this had been an actual Alert, Advisory, or Community message, important information would be included in the email and web portion of the message.  Additionally, regular updates would be issued to further inform the public on emergency conditions such as road closures, shelters, and appropriate protective measures.

Please help us keep the community alerted and informed by referring friends, family, and acquaintances to access Nixle via any of the following methods:

  • Sign up via the Web at http://nixle.com/register
  • Sign up via cell phone by texting “OsceolaEMD” to 888777
  • Access Nixle messages via the web at www.nixle.com and entering the zip code of the area you would like to check for current Alerts, Advisories, or Community messages (no sign up required!)
  • Osceola Nixle messages are also re-broadcast on the Osceola County Emergency Management Facebook page and Twitter Feeds.
DO1THING MONTHLY PREPAREDNESS GOAL
Understand what puts you at risk for disasters and take steps to lower that risk.

Disasters change things. When an emergency happens you may have to decide what to do very quickly, while you are worrying about what might happen. By planning ahead, it will be easier to make the right decisions when the worst happens.

Family Communication Plan

  • Have a phone with a cord and a car charger for your cell phone standing by in case of a power failure
  • Develop a plan for how your family will stay in touch during a disaster
  • Program In Case of Emergency(ICE) numbers into all family cell phones
