Deputies serve a search warrant at an illegal gambling establishment; one arrest & 18 computers and cash seized

SUSPECT: Augie Villaneda, 29 years old, resident of Riverside
SUMMARY:
On June 20, 2019, deputies from the Highland Police Station served a search warrant at a vacant business located in a strip mall at the corner of 9th Street/ Sterling Avenue. There were several subjects going in and out of the business and through investigation, the business was determined to be platform for illegal gambling. Deputies entered the illegal establishment and found several subjects inside on computers playing Vegas style slot machine games. The subjects stated they have won and lost currency by gambling on those machines.
The person in charge of the business was identified as Augie Villaneda. Villaneda would not provide deputies with information who had hired him to run the business. Deputies recovered eighteen computers used for illegal gambling and a large amount of US currency.
Villaneda was booked into the Central Detention Center for PC 330 and PC 330.4.
