SUSPECT: William Smith, aka: Will, 33 years old, transient

On June 26, 2019, an anonymous party positively identified the suspect as William Smith, also known as “Will”, a 33-year-old local transient. Deputies would like to question Smith about the assault and are seeking information regarding Smith's whereabouts. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Highland Station at (909)425-9793.

SUMMARY:
On Monday, June 24, 2019, deputies from the Highland Police Department responded to a dog bite call in the area of Boulder Avenue and Baseline Street.
Deputies arrived and spoke with the victim who advised he is a security guard at the location. The victim stated a white male transient, with a brown and white Pitbull on a leash, was at the location causing a disturbance. The victim asked the transient to leave to property and the suspect said something inaudible to the dog and then let the dog off the leash. The dog attacked the victim, leaving puncture wounds to his to his arms, elbow and thigh. The dog was located and picked up by animal control officers a short time later. The suspect was not with the dog and he has not been located. The same day, an anonymous party called stating a subject matching the description was in her driveway and captured him on the Ring video system at 3:30 a.m.(the video is not available for release).
The victim described the suspect as a white male adult, approximately 30 years of age. He possibly has miscellaneous tattoos on both arms and was last seen wearing a bright red hat, tan shorts and white tennis shoes. He is most likely a transient and hangs out in the wash, east of the Albertson’s parking lot.
