On Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at about 7:22 p.m., Turlock Police Department received several 911 phone calls advising of a collision involving a vehicle and a child near the intersection of W. Christoffersen Parkway and Panorama Avenue. Officers, firefighters, and EMS all arrived within minutes of the reported collision. First Responders worked together to provide emergency medical care to the child, who was struck by the vehicle, while protecting the scene so that a thorough and complete investigation could take place. The child, an eight-year old male, was transported to a local area for treatment where, unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and died.

The Turlock Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene and assisted with the investigation. At this point in the investigation, it appears that the driver of a Toyota sedan, an 18 year old female, was heading west on W. Christoffersen Parkway approaching Panorama Avenue. The child, who was on a scooter, crossed W. Christoffersen Parkway southbound when he was struck by the vehicle. The driver was not impaired and speed does not appear to be a factor. There were no other injuries sustained during this incident.

“The Turlock Police Department sends our condolences to the family of all those involved in this tragic incident. The Turlock Police Department will continue to do our best to reduce these incidents from occurring as we work with the public to educate them about safe driving and pedestrian habits,” Captain Miguel Pacheco stated.
