Fireworks Celebration Tomorrow Night!  The annual Lawrence Township fireworks display will be held tomorrow, Friday, June 28 at Rider University. Get your friends and family together for an evening of fun! Check here for more details.




Fireworks and Pet Safety - You may love fireworks,but many animals are extremely frightened and stressed at the sight and sound of fireworks.  Here are some safety tips to keep your "furry friends" safe and happy.




Municipal Offices will be closed next week, Thursday, July 4 in observance of the Fourth of July holiday.


There is no trash collection on Thursday, July 4th.  Trash will be picked up on Saturday, July 6th.





Summer Camp Has Started - The Lawrence Recreation Summer Camps started this week.  There is still space available in some of the camps.  Please click here if you are interested in registering.  If you have any questions, please call the Recreation Office at 609-844-7064.




 

Smoke Alarms Available: The Lawrence Township Fire Marshal’s Office through the NJ Division of Fire Safety has Kidde 10-year smoke alarms. These alarms were donated by Kidde through the WABC Operation 7 Save-A-Life Program for distribution to New Jersey residents. These smoke alarms are available for distribution to residents living below the poverty level in the community. Travelin' Across the USA: The Lawrence Community Concert Band is presenting a musical concert journey through American music tonight at the Lawrence Senior Center. Click here for details.






Mosquito Adulticide Application: The Mercer County Mosquito Control program provides continual surveillance of mosquitoes to determine the threat of disease transmission and annoyance levels and then utilizes environmentally sound integrated pest management techniques to keep mosquitoes below those levels. The spraying schedule for June 28 between 12:00 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. in the following areas: Kite Court, Ketterer Court, Ditmars Ave.






Road Work - Baker's Basin Road paving is now complete and the road is open.




Route 206 Roadwork to Begin: We have been advised by NJDOT that the maintenance roadway repair project on 206 will begin shortly. Please see Notice to Residents.





Road Work - NJDOT has scheduled a repaving project on I295 from Route #1 in Lawrence Township to Highway 29 in Hamilton.  Lane shifts and closures will occur - please expect delays and always use caution in the construction areas.






Message from the Department of Public Works:

The Township recently revised the brush collection regulations effective January 1, 2019. (Ordinance No. 2307-18)
 

NEW YARD WASTE COLLECTION RULES

Brush will continue to be picked up according to the zone schedule. Please refer to the Zone Map below.

  • Brush should be placed at curbside no earlier than the weekend prior to the scheduled pickup week
  • Yard waste shall be placed along the front yard curb of the property which it has originated for collection.
  • Collection will be limited to brush and tree prunings.
  • Tree trunks and limbs in excess of 6 inch diameter will not be collected.
  • Limbs should be cut in lengths of 3 feet or less.
  • All limbs and brush should be placed at the curb in an orderly manner.
  • The size of the pile may not be larger than 3 feet high and must be placed not greater than 4 feet from the edge of the pavement. The pile shall not exceed 12 feet in length.
  • No wire, nails or metal should be left in the materials.
  • Diseased material and firewood will not be collected and disposed of by the Township. This material must be disposed of privately.
  • All tree stumps are the homeowner’s responsibility. The Township will not collect tree stumps.


BRUSH WILL NOT BE PICKED UP IF THE ABOVE RULES ARE NOT FOLLOWED.

All commercial landscapers shall be registered annually with the
Township of Lawrence by March 31st.

There is no brush collection during November and December, leaf collection only.

The week of July 1 is Zone 1.


If you have any yard waste, you may take it to the Ecological Facility on Princeton Pike between the hours of 7:30 am and 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday.  The Ecological Facility is now open on Saturdays.
