Sheriff's Bloodhound Dare assisted Yucaipa deputies & tracked a suspect wanted in a stabbing incident; one in custody

INCIDENT: Assault with a Deadly Weapon
LOCATION: 35000 block of Panorama Dr., Yucaipa
SUSPECT: Steven Munoz, 37 years old, resident of Yucaipa
SUMMARY:
On June 26, 2019 at 10:40 p.m. Steven Munoz and the victim, an adult relative, had been drinking alcoholic beverages and got into a fight. Steven armed himself with a knife, threatened, then stabbed the victim. The victim used a paper towel holder to defend himself against the knife attack. Steven stabbed the victim two times, then fled the home with a .22 caliber rifle in hand.
Rancho Cucamonga Police Department Deputy Girard and bloodhound Dare responded from Rancho Cucamonga to help locate Steven. Dare acquired Steven’s scent and tracked him to a nearby residence. Inside the residence, deputies located Steven and took him into custody without incident. The .22 caliber rifle was located inside the home.
Steven Munoz was booked into CDC on charges of assault with a deadly weapon.
The victim suffered minor injuries during the assault.
