Deputies identify & arrest a documented gang member for a residential burglary; a second suspect is outstanding

DATE/TIME: Thursday, June 20, 2019 / 7:45 a.m.

INCIDENT: PC 459 – Residential Burglary

LOCATION: 7800 block of Santa Angela Street, Highland

SUSPECT(S): #1 - Joe Alexander Baca, 40-year-old resident of Fontana
#2 - Unknown - light skinned Hispanic male adult, short trimmed beard, approximately 5’7” tall with a thin build. Last seen wearing a blue baseball cap, blue hooded sweatshirt, blue pants and carrying a camouflage backpack

SUMMARY:
On Thursday, June 20, 2019 at about 8:52 a.m., deputies from the Highland Police Station were dispatched to the 7800 Block of Santa Angela Street in reference to a residential burglary that occurred less than two hours prior. The investigation revealed around 7:45 a.m., two suspects arrived near the location in a silver 2014 Chrysler 200 sedan. The suspects entered the residence through a rear sliding door, then exited with property from inside the residence. Shortly after, the suspects parked the vehicle in the driveway and removed a large gun safe, including firearms, from the residence before fleeing.

Through the investigation, one of the suspects was identified as Joe Alexander Baca, a documented gang member. On Friday, June 21, 2019, deputies and detectives from the Highland Multiple Enforcement Team and San Bernardino County Gang Intelligence Team found the suspect vehicle at a residence on the 11700 block of Lucena Avenue in the City of Fontana. Investigators served a search warrant at the residence and found evidence linking Baca to the residential burglary. At the conclusion of the search warrant, Baca was arrested for residential burglary and booked into the West Valley Detention Center.

The second suspect has not been identified and items stolen from the residence have not been recovered. The second suspect is described as a light skinned Hispanic male adult with short trimmed beard, approximately 5’7” tall with a thin build. The suspect was last seen wearing a blue baseball cap, blue hooded sweatshirt, blue pants, with a camouflage backpack.
