News Release: Woman Groped Walking on University Avenue; Suspect At Large
Police are looking to identify a male suspect who jumped out of his car and sexually battered a female pedestrian. The suspect fled and is at large.
On Monday, June 24, 2019 at 9:03 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a report of a sex crime that had just occurred in the 1200 block of University Avenue. The preliminary investigation revealed that a male suspect driving eastbound on University Avenue stopped his vehicle at Marlowe Street and exited. He approached a female in her twenties who was walking on University Avenue from behind and grabbed her breasts, buttocks, and groin area over her clothing. The victim chased after the suspect, but he ran back to the vehicle he was driving and fled westbound on University Avenue.
The victim described the suspect as a Hispanic or Polynesian male between 23 to 30 years old. He is approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs around 170 pounds. He was wearing black clothing and a black hat. The suspect vehicle is a newer-model white Audi A4 sedan with no tint on the windows.
