Advisory

Two arrested following Sunday's BMW dealership burglary in Bluffton. Two vehicles were stolen/both recovered.

On Sunday morning, June 23, 2019, employees of the Hilton Head BMW dealership in Bluffton discovered that one of its modular units was burglarized—forced entry—and keys to vehicles in its inventory were missing. Following an inventory of vehicles located on the dealership's lot, employees found that two vehicles were missing and believed stolen during the burglary: a 2019 BMW 850i valued at $130,000 and a 2016 BMW 535xi valued at $35,000.

Yesterday, Sheriff’s Office deputies received information from the dealership’s employees that one of the stolen vehicles—the 2019 BMW 850i—may be in the parking lot of Walmart on Pembroke Drive, Hilton Head Island. Following up on that information, deputies located the vehicle and the subject believed responsible for its theft. The subject, identified as 18-year-old Alan Gonzalez-Moreno of Bluffton, was interviewed and admitted to burglarizing the dealership's modular unit and the theft of the BMW 850i from its lot. Gonzalez-Moreno also provided deputies with the identity of a second subject, 17-year-old Ulises Bellino, who was with him during the burglary, and who was responsible for the theft of the other vehicle—the 2016 BMW 535xi. Gonzalez-Moreno was arrested and charged with Burglary 2nd Degree and Grand Larceny. Gonzalez-Moreno was found to be in possession of marijuana at the time of his arrest, so he was also charged with Simple Possession of Marijuana. He was transported to the Beaufort County Detention Center and incarcerated.

After the interview and arrest of Alan Gonzalez-Moreno, deputies located Ulises Bellino at his Pine Forest Drive, Bluffton residence. Deputies also located the stolen 2016 BMW 535xi in the parking lot of a Malphrus Road church, which is close to Bellino's residence. Bellino was interviewed and admitted to deputies that he was involved in Sunday's burglary at the BMW dealership and that he stole the BMW 535xi from its lot. For his role in the incident, Bellino was arrested and charged with Burglary 2nd Degree and Grand Larceny. Following his arrest, Bellino was transported to the Detention Center and incarcerated.

The recovered BMWs were processed for forensic evidence and later returned to the dealership. At the Detention Center, Gonzalez-Moreno and Bellino received bond hearings. Both received $25,000 bonds for the Burglary and $25,000 for the Grand Larceny charges—$50,000 total—with an additional bond of $615 set on Gonzalez-Moreno for his marijuana charge. As of this afternoon, the two remained incarcerated.
