SUMMARY:
On June 23, 2019, Jesse Vasquez entered Stater Bros with Jacob Rodriguez. Vasquez selected four (4) cases of Red Bull and exited the store without paying for them. A Stater Bros employee chased after him in an attempt to stop him and recover the stolen items. Vasquez got into a vehicle, placed his vehicle in reverse and backed up, striking the employee and causing a minor injury. Rodriguez fled the location on foot. Before the suspects were able to escape, a witness got the suspect vehicle's license plate and later provided it to law enforcement.

Deputies obtained surveillance video from the victim business and were able to identify the two suspects as Vasquez and Rodriguez, both known gang members out of the Redlands area. Within a day, deputies obtained felony arrest warrants for both suspects.

On Monday, June 24, 2019, Vasquez and Rodriguez were located and arrested in the City of Redlands. Vasquez was booked on charges of Robbery, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Conspiracy to Commit a Crime and Participation in a Criminal Street Gang. He is being held on $150,000 bail. Rodriguez was booked on charges of Conspiracy to Commit a Crime and Participation in a Criminal Street Gang. He was also charged with violating parole and is being held without bail.
