The Pomona Police Department conducted a prostitution operation along the Holt Ave. corridor in the City of Pomona from Tuesday, June 18th- Saturday, June 22nd. During the 5-day operation, 30 adults were arrested.
15 males were arrested for soliciting undercover officers for various sex acts and 15 adult females were arrested for the charge of Loitering for the Purposes of Prostitution.
On Tuesday evening, undercover officers posing as prostitutes were walking along Holt Ave. when a suspicious vehicle began circling the area. The vehicle pulled up to the side of the curb in what officers initially believed was going to be a potential “John.” Before approaching the vehicle, our decoy officers noticed the driver and passenger were acting suspiciously. Officers assigned to the security team who were also monitoring the scene made contact with the individuals. Once the occupants exited the vehicle, officers located a loaded firearm inside the center console. The driver, who was later identified as 33-year-old Jazzmon Russell of Highland, was arrested for carrying a loaded firearm and for additional warrants to include a federal warrant for weapons violations. Both the driver and passenger were identified as Los Angeles gang members and appear to have been engaged in pimping and prostitution activities at the time of contact and arrest. The driver was booked at the Pomona City Jail.
The above incident is a prime example of the great dangers our officers face on an everyday basis to ensure the safety of the community.
