Aggravated Domestic Battery
6/21 – 1:25 p.m. – Police responded to a domestic violence call, on North Jefferson Street, between a male subject and his adult daughter. A preliminary investigation resulted in the arrest of the male. Interviews were conducted, and the report was submitted to the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office. On Saturday June 22nd the state’s attorney’s office charged the defendant, Darell E. Chamberlain Sr., age 58 of Millstadt, with two offenses. The following is a synopsis of the charging documents:
Count 1: Aggravated Domestic Battery/Strangulation: In that the defendant, in committing a domestic battery, strangled the victim, a family/household member of the defendant, in that the said defendant intentionally impeded the normal breathing of the victim by applying pressure to her throat. A Class 2 Criminal Felony, Category A Offense.
Count 2: Domestic Battery: In that the defendant, knowingly made physical contact of an insulting or provoking nature with the victim, a family or household member of the defendant, in that he struck her about the body with his cane. A Class A Misdemeanor, Category A Offense.
His bond was set at $30,000.
