KCSO makes arrest in Delano area carjacking
On June 18, 2019, at about 3:00 p.m., deputies assigned to the Delano substation were dispatched to a report of a carjacking that just occurred in the area of Cecil Avenue and Wasco Pond Road. When deputies arrived, they confirmed the victim had been carjacked by a suspect armed with a firearm.
Several minutes later deputies located the victim’s stolen vehicle being driven in the area of Pond Road and Highway 43. The suspect failed to yield to deputies and led them on a vehicle pursuit in and around the city of McFarland before crashing the vehicle in the area of Sherwood Avenue and Famoso-Porterville Highway. The suspect fled on foot into nearby orchards and after a lengthy search was not located.
In the following days, deputies established probable cause to arrest 20- year-old Michael Crumm and obtained a warrant for his arrest. On June 20, 2019, deputies arrested Crumm in the 10000 block of Casey Avenue in Delano.
Crumm was booked into jail on the following charges: PC 215 Carjacking, PC 245(a)(2) Assault with a Firearm, VC 2800.2 Reckless Evading a Peace Officer, PC 182(a)(1) Conspiracy, and PC 186.22(a) Gang Participation.
