Janesville Police Department hosts Connecting Youth & Communities with Law Enforcement (CYCLE) Training
The Janesville Police Department partnered with the Police Training Institute (PTI) to host it's Connecting Youth & Communities with Law Enforcement (CYCLE) training over the last two days in Janesville.
The 16-hour training was youth centered and focused on topics including:
▪ Contemporary Issues in Policing and Communities
▪ Active Listening Skills
▪ The Role of Unconscious Bias in Decision-making
▪ De-escalation Skills and Tactics
▪ Adolescent Brain Development
▪ Trauma-informed Response
▪ Building Rapport in the Community
A segment of Janesville Police Department officers from all divisions and ranks attended the 2-day training. Some of the training included role-play scenarios with participating youth from Project 16:49. This training followed the Town Hall Event held on 06/18/19 and previous listening sessions with area youth groups.
Other regional Law Enforcement agencies participating in the training included the Rock County Sheriff's Office, Milton Police Department, Evansville Police Department, Madison Police Department, and the Ho-Chunk Nation Police Department.
