The Sausalito Police Department has received a report that our phone number (415-289-4170) has been spoofed by an unknown entity and used in an attempted phone scam. These scammers identified themselves as law enforcement and IRS Agents. These scammers use aggressive tactics and threaten some form of judicial punishment if you do not comply with their request. These threats include telling you a warrant will be issued for your arrest or an officer will come to your house to arrest you immediately.

The Sausalito Police Department will not ask for any form of payment over the phone. Do not give your personal information to any unverified people over the phone. If you receive an unsolicited call and suspect that it is fraudulent hang up and call the source yourself to ensure you are speaking to a legitimate employee. If you receive a call from the Sausalito Police Department and suspect it is fraudulent you can come to the station to speak to an officer in person.
