Wilmington Police arrest Dover man, recover firearm and ammunition
Wilmington Police have arrested a Dover man and charged him with weapons and drug charges.
On June 18 at approximately 8 p.m., members of the Safe Streets Task Force were in the 1100 block of West 4th Street when they observed a man driving a vehicle without a seatbelt while committing a traffic violation. Police stopped the vehicle, and upon approaching the car, detected an odor of marijuana.
In the course of their investigation, police recovered a 9mm semi-automatic handgun, along with an extended 9mm magazine, two 9mm magazines, seventeen 9mm cartridges, two additional boxes of ammunition and 1.4 grams of marijuana.
Police took the driver, 27-year-old Neville Waters of Dover, into custody without incident. He has been charged with the following offenses:
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
- Possession of Marijuana
Waters was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $3,100 unsecured bail.
