Two men charged in the June 3, 2019 Lady’s Island Circle K parking lot shooting. Investigation is ongoing.
The date of the shooting incident was incorrect in the previous advisory. The correct date of the incident was June 3, 2019 not June 4, 2019.
The Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the June 3, 2019 shooting in the parking lot of the Lady’s Island Circle K, which left one man—Clarence Mitchell III—dead and another man wounded. During the incident, occupants of at least two vehicles exchanged gunfire. Following the shootout, upwards of 70 cartridge casings of various caliber were recovered in and around the parking lot of the Circle K.
In connection with the shooting, and up to this point in the investigation, Sheriff’s Office investigators have charged one man, 22-year-old Ronald Moore of Lady’s Island, with Obstruction of Justice and another man, 19-year-old Montarious Brown of Burton, with three counts of Attempted Murder and one count of Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime. Moore was arrested on June 7 and incarcerated in the Beaufort County Detention Center. Moore was released, after posting the $5,000 bond set for his charge. Brown was arrested this morning and remains incarcerated in the Detention Center, as he has yet to receive a bond hearing for his four charges.
Sheriff’s Office investigators continue to interview witnesses and others involved in this incident.
