Flood Advisory until 04:30PM

The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for Poor Drainage Areas for... White County in southeastern Illinois... Southern Wayne County in south central Illinois... Wabash County in southeastern Illinois... Edwards County in southeastern Illinois... Northeastern Hamilton County in south central Illinois... Central Gibson County in southwestern Indiana... North central Posey County in southwestern Indiana...

* Until 430 PM CDT.

* At 234 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Precipitation was beginning to line up from southewest to northeast and heavy rain was beginning to move repeatedly over the same areas. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Overflowing poor drainage areas will result in minor flooding in the advisory area. One to two inches of rain have already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Mount Carmel, Carmi, Fairfield, Mcleansboro, Albion, Grayville, Lancaster, Wayne City, West Salem, Crossville, Patoka, Enfield, Allendale, Jeffersonville, Bellmont, Sims, Bone Gap, Mill Shoals, Keensburg and Griffin.

* AFFECTED AREAS: WABASH, IL ... WAYNE, IL ... EDWARDS, IL ... WHITE, IL ... POSEY, IN ... HAMILTON, IL ... GIBSON, IN

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Keep children away from storm drains, culverts, creeks and streams. Water levels can rise rapidly and sweep children away.
